Greis, Krodel Named Players of the Week
Players of the Week: Week 1
The Foresters have started this season hot, posting a 7-1 record through the first week and change, with a +53 run differential, finding themselves atop the CCL South standings. Amongst all the success, two players, one on either side of the ball, have stood out as the engines driving this team.
Player of the Week: Marcus Greis.
In his first real action against collegiate arms, Greis, an incoming freshman at TCU, hailing from Tustin, has failed to back down from the challenge. Playing in seven of the eight games so far this season, he has slashed .385/.484/.538 with eight RBIs in addition to swiping five bases. When speaking with head coach Bill Pintard, he praised Marcus’s maturity and poise in his opening week: “For a young guy to come in and play on a team of this caliber, and play at the level he’s been playing at, is really remarkable.”
Marcus is projected to be the team's starting shortstop going forward before making his way to Fort Worth for his freshman year.
Pitcher of the Week: AJ Krodel.
Krodel, a returning Forester who is the reigning EP19 Pitcher of the Year, has picked up right where he left off. Coming off his junior season at UC Santa Barbara, Krodel is a top-of-the-rotation power arm who can generate numerous outs via the strikeout. In his single start this season, he went four innings, only allowing four baserunners, while striking out eight. Pintard, too, noted AJ’s continuity for this ‘Sters squad: “He gives us quality starts, he pitches fearlessly, makes on-the-fly adjustments, and gets the job done.”
The Foresters have another packed week going forward, splitting their six games evenly between home and away. They return to action tomorrow against the Conejo Oaks in Ventura. You can catch every play on the Foresters YouTube channel.
